Costs and Financial Aid

Once applicants are accepted as students of the South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, parents are provided financial aid information and fee payment instructions.

Tuition

There is no tuition to attend the SC Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe, and residential living is free. The State of South Carolina provides funding for housing and courses offered by JDLH.

Fees

  • The student meal fee is $2,680 per student for the 2022-2023 school year and is applied to help offset meal costs. The fee will be paid by all incoming students.
  • A one-time refundable room security deposit fee in the amount of $100, minus any charges for room damages, if applicable, is charged during the Enrollment process of the student’s acceptance to the SC Governor’s School for Agriculture.

Payment of Fees

The meal fee may be paid in full or in monthly installments. For the 2022-2023 school year, the first payment is due on or before August 1, 2022. It is payable in one lump sum or through monthly installments. There will be no interest charges incurred through JDLH’s payment plan. If necessary, due to hardship, other payment options may be requested through the JDLH Business Office. Payments can be made by cash/money order/check.

Financial Aid

No student will be denied participation in JDLH’s residential program due to the inability to pay fees. Financial aid is available. The SC Governor's School for Agriculture follows a need-blind policy with regard to admitting qualified students. For purposes of financial aid, the School will use guidelines based on the free and reduced income scale as determined on an annual basis by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and policy approved by the JDLH Board of Trustees. In cases of severe hardship, partial or complete fee waivers may be granted through the President's Office.
