On Monday, September 28, 2020, South Carolina Governor, Henry McMaster signed Enabling Legislation S.613 officially designating the John de la Howe School as the third Governor’s School in the state. The school will now be named the Governor’s School for Agriculture at John de la Howe.

“Becoming the South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture is the pinnacle of several years of work to re-brand our school. The legacy of Dr. John de la Howe will live on in the lives of our current and future students due this historical legislation,” said John de la Howe President, Timothy Keown.

The South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture at John de la Howe (JDLH) is a public residential high school focused on providing a unique and challenging agricultural education program. Located in McCormick, SC, on 1,310 acres of forest and farmland, student’s grades 10th -12th have the opportunity to receive hands-on training in the fields of agribusiness, forestry, equipment operation, land management, food science, and more.
