The John de la Howe School Alumni Association will host a Pre-Valentine’s Dance Fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.

The event, to be held at the Savannah Lakes Village Recreation Center, will support student quality of life and ongoing improvements at the South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture at John de la Howe.

The Pre-Valentine’s Dance will feature Beach Music recording artists the Carolina Coast Band with Rhonda McDaniel and special guest Rickey Godfrey. McDaniel is a native of McCormick County and has won numerous Carolina Beach Music Association awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year.

Tickets for the Pre-Valentine’s Dance are $65 per person, which includes a plated dinner catered by the River Grille at Savannah Lakes Village.  A silent auction will be offered, and there will be door prizes and drawings.  Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.; the band will begin at 8 p.m.

The Governor’s School of Agriculture at John de la Howe has been very successful in educating the future leaders in agriculture since its opening in August 2020. The Alumni Association – made up of former students at the school who attended prior to its reorganization as the Governor’s School – has been supportive of the effort by assisting with decorating on-campus residential halls for students. Association members plan to help decorate three additional residence halls when ongoing structural renovations are completed.

The John de la Howe School Alumni Association is accepting monetary donations and in-kind gifts that can be used for the silent auction and prizes for the drawings.  The Alumni Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit and will provide a receipt for tax records for any donations.

Tickets are available at the McCormick County Chamber of Commerce office in downtown McCormick or by contacting Tammy E. Hill, secretary for the John de la Howe School Alumni Association, at (843) 509-7801.
