Dr. Timothy Keown, Superintendent of the South Carolina Governor's School for Agriclture at John de la Howe, has released the following statement regarding Tuesday's anticipated severe weather:

Dear Parents and Students,

As we carefully monitor the strong storm system expected to move across South Carolina on Tuesday, January 9, the administration of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture at John de la Howe has made the decision to operate on a normal instructional schedule. Many districts around us are having an E-learning tomorrow due to the dangers associated with high winds and school busses.

However, school and residential life staff will be available this afternoon (Monday) to assist the parents of any residential student who would prefer to sign out their children to depart campus Monday evening to ride out Tuesday’s storm system at home. Excused residentials and/or day students who choose to stay home out of an abundance of caution, will participate in an E-learning day and must complete assignments from their instructors. For any student who chooses to take an E-learning day tomorrow, please monitor your school email for additional instructions from your teachers.

If the Governor issues a state of emergency for McCormick County, we will make adjustments to our safety plan and send you an update.
