Campus Will Operate On Delayed Schedule Friday 9/27

Hurricane Helene Response
Thu, 09/26/2024

Hurricane Helene already has dumped more than 5 inches of rain on the Governor's School for Agriculture campus and a bit more west of McCormick County. Thus, the school administration has made the decision to postpone the start of school until 10 a.m. Friday morning, September 27.

Forecasters now predict that McCormick County will receive between 8-10 inches of rain and experience high winds as the storm passes. The delay will allow teachers, staff, and day students time to commute safely.

Breakfast will be served in the residential halls and students will stay in their residential halls until 9:45 a.m. The school day will end normally at 3 p.m.

"Our concern is with our teachers, staff, and day students driving to campus in the pre-dawn hours. The administration will continue to monitor the storm and make the best decisions for everyone’s safety," Dr. Timothy Keown, our agency president, stated.
