The opening of the 2022-2023 academic year here at the South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe received regional recognition this week as the school was featured on the Southern Farm Network.

Based in Raleigh, N.C., the Southern Farm Network is billed as "Your Agriculture Source in the Carolinas and Virginia since 1974" and broadcasts on more than 25 radio stations and 70 affiliates around the Mid-Atlantic region. Its programming reaches more than two million weekly listeners with breaking agriculture industry news, regional weather reports and updated crop and livestock market data.

In the three-minute audio feature, host Mike Davis interviewed our president, Mr. Tim Keown, about the new school year and the ongoing growth in our enrollment and educational programs. Mr. Davis noted that the Governor's School for Agriculture is "not your typical high school" and "boasts an impressive resume," spotlighting the success of our inaugural graduating Class of 2022 in earning college scholarships.

Mr. Keown stressed in the interview that the students here on the John de la Howe campus are unified in their passion for farming and "share the same bond with the love of agriculture." The full feature can be heard here:
