The John de la Howe School Foundation, a nonprofit supporter of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture, will host its inaugural Sportsman’s Clay Shoot and Banquet on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Palmetto Shooting Complex in Edgefield, S.C.

The competition begins at 3 p.m., and combined tickets for the clay shoot and the evening banquet are $100 per person or $50 for the barbecue banquet and live beginning at 7 p.m. For tickets or more information, contact Staci Smith, executive director of the John de la Howe School Foundation, at (864) 391-0406.

“The Foundation exists solely to support the students, the staff and the mission of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture,” Mrs. Smith said. “The Foundation is excited to host our first fund-raising event this fall, and the proceeds will have two focus areas. One, to support our high school shotgun team, and secondly to support our environmental and natural resources program.”

Whether you're an experienced shooter or just starting out, this event is perfect for all skill levels as participants navigate through a challenging clay shooting course, hosted by the National Wild Turkey Federation. Non-participants in the clay shoot are invited to be spectators or to visit the Outdoor Education Center at the Palmetto Shooting Complex.

The evening activities include the live auction, featuring a legendary Jarrett Beanfield Rifle, a rare find and one of the world’s most accurate hunting rifles.

The new school year at the South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture begins on Monday, August 7 on a 1,310-acre campus in rural McCormick County.
