SWINE CENTER

Our swine center raises and processes swine for our farm operations.

Our campus Swine Center, located behind our iconic Dairy Barn, allows students to see how a small-scale commercial swine operation might function. The swine population includes three production sows Clemson York Duroc, one pasture-raised market cross sow, and one former show swine (new breeder).

In 2024, a total of 10 piglets were produced via artificial insemination, following 33 swine births in 2023.

In addition, the campus is home to a pastured family of Kunekune swine, which are native to New Zealand. This pasture behind the tractor shop allows students to see how a small-scale homestead operation might operate. Our boar and sow homestead pair produced eight piglets in 2024.

Lindsay Davis coordinates our campus Swine Center.
