THE SCHOOL

Instructional programs at the Governor's School for Agriculture currently meet in L.S. Brice

The South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe is the oldest publicly funded school in South Carolina, and this is the oldest school dedicated to agricultural education in the nation.

Students live, learn and work on our 1,310-acre farm, which functions as an agricultural education laboratory. They have the opportunity to manage livestock, crops and gardens, horses, wildlife, aquaculture, and forest land.

Students are encouraged to focus on the area of agriculture that most interests them. The school offers four agricultural pathways: Plant and Animal Systems, Agricultural Mechanics & Technology, Horticulture, and Environmental and Natural Resources.

Gregory Thompson is the principal of the S.C. Governor's School for Agriculture.
