The ongoing mission of the John de la Howe School Foundation to support student activities at the South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture has taken on an outdoors theme this spring with two concurrent benefits aimed at hunters, anglers, golfers and shooting sports enthusiasts.
Youth Shooting Sports Raffle
The Foundation has partnered with Memphis-based Ducks Unlimited for a fundraiser in support of our high school's competitive shotgun team. Tickets are $20 apiece for a chance to win one of five Ducks Unlimited-branded prizes:
Traeger Grill
Ducks Unlimited Turtlebox Speaker
Ducks Unlimited Cornhole Set
YETI Hopper Backpack
2 Outdoor Blue Freestyle Rockers
Tickets are available for purchase through Venmo by scanning the QR code on the Foundation's fundraiser flyer. The drawing is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025.
Sportsman's Banquet
The JDLH Foundation also is presenting the 2025 Sportsman's Banquet on Saturday, March 1 at nearby Hickory Knob State Resort Park in McCormick County.
"It's the perfect opportunity to encourage future sportsmen and women, support an agricultural education, and to have a great time," said Stacie Smith, executive director of the John de la Howe School Foundation. "Don't miss out on this memorable event."
Tickets are $30 per person, with dinner served at 6 p.m. and a live auction beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the state park's iconic Red Barn. Tickets may be purchased on Eventbrite.
Prior to the dinner and auction, students from the Governor's School for Agriculture will present a series of outdoor activities, including student field judging of whitetail deer at the park's clay shoot area at 3 p.m. (with representatives of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources on site); a student wildlife challenge at 4 p.m.; and a student fishing team demonstration onstage at the Red Barn at 5 p.m.
