Preparations have begun for the South Carolina Governor’s School for Agriculture’s signature spring event – Ag Fest 2025.
Ag Fest is an annual celebration of all things agriculture, including a huge spring livestock show that attracts competitors of all ages from all across the state. This year’s Ag Fest is scheduled for Saturday, March 29 beginning at 8 a.m.
“We are looking forward to our fifth annual Ag Fest. We are so excited to be a part of mentoring, expanding show and educational opportunities for our state, and keeping our students and community interested in agriculture,” said Mrs. Libby Templeton, one of our agriculture teachers and a principal organizer of Ag Fest.
The day’s festivities include competitions involving swine and dairy cattle beginning first thing in the morning with 9 a.m. check-in and showing at 10:30, followed by a rabbit show check-in at 11 a.m. for a noon show. Highlighting the afternoon activities, the beef cattle and breeding doe shows start checking in at 1 p.m. for the 2 p.m. show, and the dairy goat show wraps up the day’s event at 4 p.m.
Online registration for each event is being accepted right up until the day of the show. In addition, there are openings for specialty food, crafts, merchants, and ag-related vendors to help make this event one to remember. The registration form for vendors is available here.
“For this event to be successful, it involves a lot of help from our school staff, students, volunteers, show professionals, judges, and our wonderful sponsors,” Mrs. Templeton said. “Please come out, bring a chair, and your families for an amazing Saturday of fun, fellowship, vendors, educational activities, or just come to support your favorite exhibitor.”
