The Governor's School for Agriculture will operate on a normal schedule.

After carefully assessing the forecast track of the current winter storm, the administration at the South Carolina Governor's School for Agriculture at John de la Howe has decided to maintain the originally planned schedule for this school week.

Residential students should plan to return to campus beginning at 4 p.m. on Monday, January 20. Classes will be held Tuesday through Friday as planned. Every preparation will be made to keep students warm and safe as overnight temperatures dip into the teens and only a small amount of winter precipitation is forecast for the McCormick County area overnight Tuesday.

Dr. Timothy Keown, president and superintendent of the school, sent the following correspondence to parents at approximately 9:25 this morning:

Dear Aggie Family,

Based on the most recent forecast, we are planning to operate as normal. Students should return to campus today. Friday, the weather forecast is back to 47 degrees. No snow is expected for our area of the state.

We feel like students can arrive here today safely, have two cold days here on campus, and Friday they can safely return home if they choose.

We still have February and early March that may bring more serious weather, so we need to be conservative with our E-learning days.

Have safe travels and stay warm!

Of course, Monday remains an official Martin Luther King Jr. state holiday for state employees, and campus offices are closed. However, resident advisors will be on-campus at 4 p.m. to welcome students' return to their residence halls.
